What is the WEEE Directive?

WEEE stands for Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment and the WEEE Directive is aimed at reducing the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment that ends up in landfill.

What are the WEEE Regulations?

The WEEE regulations mean that as a producer of "WEEE" Concept2 Ltd has an obligation to accept back customers any Electrical and Electronic Equipment we have put onto the market since 13th August 2005. All electronic and electrical equipment put onto the market after this date by Concept2 is marked in accordance to the law with the wheelie bin logo with a line underneath it.

As required by law Concept2 Ltd has registered under one of the approved compliance schemes. The scheme we are part of is run by WeeCare Plc.(EA Approved Scheme Registration No. WEE/MP3538PZ/SCH). As such we are obliged to make available to our customers our WEEE producer Registration No. to prove our registration - our WEEE Producer registration No. is : WEE/KA0004ZR.

What products are covered by WEEE?

The WEEE Regulations only applies to electrical and electronic items. On a Concept2 Rowing machine the components that are covered by the regulations are as follows:

  • Performance Monitors PM3 and PM4
  • Model D/E Generator/Sensor coil

What does this mean in terms of products?

This means that should a customer have a product purchased from Concept2 which they need to dispose of and they purchased it after 13th August 2005, then they can either take it to a local DCF (Designated Collection Facility - most local council recycling centres include DCF facilities) or send it back to Concept2 where it will be disposed of according to the directive.

For example : A customer is replacing a old PM2 Monitor with a new PM3/PM4 Monitor. The old Monitor can be returned (free of charge) to Concept2 Ltd as above.

Will there be any additional charges for the implementation of WEEE?

No - Concept2 Ltd will not be making any additional charges for this.
